Group Size: Our group consists of 13 students and 2 directors.
Program: our normal program is 60-70 minutes in length, including a wide variety of concert music, worship, and testimonials. For churches, our program includes congregational singing and worship as part of each concert. We are flexible in adjusting our programs and timing to meet your needs and those of your church.
Equipment: We bring our own instruments, music stands, and sound equipment. We ask that the stage/platform is being clear if all possible.
Sound System: Our equipment is of a high, professional quality. We have taken great care in selecting equipment that will reinforce the music clearly and at a comfortable level. Many churches also have professional systems; however, we have found that in nearly every case our needs require that we use our own system. We look forward to working with your church sound technician so that we may know of any special problems, or if it is desired, to tap into our systems for sound to be carried to the church speakers. Our sound engineer will place our mixing console toward the back of the worship center so that a proper balance may be obtained. We ask that a 6–foot table be made available for our soundboard if needed.
Audio/Visual: as part of our concert program, our director incorporates a sequence of worship songs for the congregation to participate in. There are two formats that they lyrics for our worship set have been place. If you church uses Microsoft’s Power Point for worship, we can provide the presentations for the worship songs in our concert program and would be more than happy to email them to the church for formatting on your systems. If Power Point is not a option and your church uses transparencies, slides, or other media, please contact our Music Events at (phone) and they will discuss with your AB engineer the best format to send the lyrics in for the presentation.
Storage: These groups will have some equipment and instrument cases. A room located near the platform would be useful for our storage needs. If this is not possible, other nearby location would work fine.
Sep-up time: It usually takes a minimum of 45 minutes and often up to an hour to arrange our equipment and attain a sound balance. Since every auditorium or worship center is different, we can adjust to any arrangement.
Prayer room: The ensemble members like to spend some time in prayer and preparation before each concert. If you have a place out of the way that will accommodate approximately 15 people, please let us know when we arrive. Generally, the choir room, fellowship hall, or a large Sunday school room is adequate.
Dressing Rooms: Due to the distances between some of the churches from which we travel, we have need of dressing rooms where our students can change clothes and prepare for the evening service. We need at least two rooms; one that will accommodate 6 women and one room that will accommodate 9 men. When the group arrives at the church, one of our choir leaders will ask for assistance in locating these rooms.
Meal information: the host church/venue is asked to provide a meal for the group. This reduces our financial overhear as well as eliminating the need to find a restaurant in your area that will accommodate such a large group. Churches hosting the ensemble on Sunday mornings are encouraged to provide a noon meal after the service(s), meet and have prayer before the service. For Sunday night services, a meal should be provided around 5:00 p.m. This allows our students time to dress, meet and have prayer before service. If you would like to include your youth, worship ministry team or even the whole church at this time, we would be happy to use this as a means of getting to know your congregation better and to discuss LABI and our ministry with them. We trust that this meal is not a burden to your or your staff. We appreciate anything that is provided!
Financial information: We are grateful for the opportunity to share the ministry of LABI Singers & Band with your church. The group is sponsored by LABI to provide a music ministry to churches, schools, conventions, and conferences. Since there are costs to maintain such a group, we ask that you provide a love offering or an honorarium. Whatever you can offer is deeply appreciated and in contrast to other university groups in our area, no minimum is required. We are often asked what it costs the university to bring the group to a church. The answer is approximately $1,000.00 per concert. We realize that some churches cannot meet this budget and others have the resources to give much more. We trust God for our ministry and are grateful for al that is provided.
Driving directions: We may not be familiar with your area and while we usually pull directions off the internet form either Mapquest or Ran McNally, it would be helpful to receive additional information from your church or school giving specific directions to your facility. Also, if there are specific parking or loading areas that we should be made aware of, please communicate that with our Office. This group will be traveling with an 8-foot trailer and two vans.
