Dr. John Brito, Chair of LABI/LATS Board & Senior Pastor

_DSC6506 copyRev. John Brito, D.Min. is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God and is a second generation pastor. He has a Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary and is the pastor of Spirit Life Community Church Assembly of God in Norwalk, California. He has been married to Myrna, his wife of twenty six years and have a charming son, Jeremiah.

Dr. Brito has served on the LABI College and Latin Theological Seminary board from 2009 to the present and was an ex officio board member from 2005-2007. He was elected chairman of the Board in April of 2014.

Dr. Brito has served as executive presbyter of Region 6, the English-speaking region of the Southern Pacific District (SPD) of the Assemblies of God from 2013-2014 and served as district presbyter of the same region from 2010-2013. He also served as a member of the SPD Strategic Planning Committee from 2010-2011. He was a member of the two-year Strategic Planning Committee for the restructuring of LABI/LATS from 2009-2010. Dr. Brito also served as the president of the Latin American Theological Seminary from 2005-2007. During his tenure he served as an ex officio member of the SPD district presbytery and as an ex officio member of the LABI board. Dr. Brito was also a member of the SPD Office of Pastoral Care Planning Committee from 2004-2005 where he helped design this ministry.

His ministerial experience includes successfully planting Spirit Life Community Church Assembly of God in 2007 where he currently pastors and serving as associate pastor of Iglesia Iberoamerica of the Assemblies of God in Huntington Park, California from 1994-2007, where he also served as youth pastor from 1993-1994. He also served on the chaplain’s team at the Office of Pastoral Care at Rancho Los Amigos Hospital in Downey, California from 2011-2012 where he also served as a member of the Church Services team from 2008-2011.

His teaching experience includes serving as a member of the faculty of the Latin American Theological Seminary from 2003-2007 and from 2011-2012 and also serving as a member of the faculty of LABI College from 2012-2014
