We are delighted to announce that the President’s Chief of Staff, Nehemias Romero has been appointed to the new role of Executive Director of Financial Aid for LABI College. This new role is critical now that LABI College has been designated with “Candidate Status” through the Association of Biblical Higher Education (ABHE) and with this designation is now eligible to apply for Title IV Funding (Federal Student Aid).
What does financial aid mean for LABI? If approved by the U.S. Department of Education, this process will enable qualified students to receive federal grant support, loan options, and eventually (where appropriate) access to and student aid funding through the California Student Aid Commission; in essence making educational access to LABI more affordable and with more financial aid options.
Nehemias and the President, Dr. Marty Harris have already been in contact with the U.S. Department of Education, financial consultants, and Third Party Providers, exploring the Title IV application process, and preparing the way for our initial steps as we explore this wonderful possibility.
As LABI’s Executive Director of Financial Aid, Nehemias will initiate our financial aid services through the U.S. and California Department of Education and our third party provider, creating structure and policy assuring that federal and where warranted state department of education regulations are in compliance. Over the past year, Nehemias has already worked with Institutional Aid at LABI College and will continue to serve as Chief of Staff for the President’s Office.
Once again, establishing financial aid services may give our students access to Federal grants/loans and California related grants, an achievement that has never been accomplished in our 90 history. Please keep us in prayer as we make progress that will bless our students, churches, and our beloved College. When you see, meet with, or greet Nehemias, please congratulate him in taking on this new role and thank him for his continued service to our beloved LABI College!
Dr. Marty Harris
President and CEO
