Dr. Navarrete was elected Chief Executive Officer of the Southern Pacific District in August 2002. As superintendent of SPD, he is a member of the denomination’s Executive Leadership Team and Executive Presbytery. Under his leadership as Superintendent, Dr. Sergio oversees more than 300 churches, 450 ministers and more than 80,000 members. The rapid growth of the Southern Pacific District earned the distinction by the General Council of the Assemblies of God as the “Fastest Growing District of the Assemblies of God.
Dr. Sergio’s vast ministerial experience includes the Pastorate, General and Executive Presbyter, Professor, and Academic Dean. In April of 2009, Dr. Sergio was appointed Interim President of LABI College and the Latin American Theological Seminary (LATS) to oversee the Restructuring of the College and Seminary.
A graduate from LABI, Dr. Sergio earned a Bachelors of Theology from the Latin American Theological Seminary, a Masters of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary, a Doctorate in Ministry from Azusa Pacific University and a Masters in Business Administration from Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, California. In 1990, Dr. Navarrete received the “Hispanic Student Honor Award from Fuller Theological Seminary and received the – Academic Hall of Honor 2008 Award from the Azusa Pacific University
Dr. Navarrete currently serves as a member of the board for the National Hispanic Leadership Christian Conference (NHCLC); Vanguard University and as Ex-Officio Trustees for LABI College. He has authored several published articles and is currently serving as the Chairman of the Seminario Teolojico Pentecostal de California (SETEPEN).
