College President Dr. Marty Harris Featured in Influence Magazine's Mental Health Cover Story

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

La Puente, CA — LABI College proudly celebrates President Dr. Marty Harris for being featured in the Spring 2025 issue of Influence Magazine as a co-author of the article “Ministers and Mental Health.” This in-depth cover story explores the emotional and psychological challenges faced by credentialed Assemblies of God ministers and highlights the importance of mental health awareness and support within ministry.

Drawing from his dual experience as a pastor and clinical psychologist, Dr. Harris shares firsthand insights into the pressures that spiritual leaders face, from burnout to depression, and the need for accessible mental health care. His contribution helps underscore a powerful message: tending to mental and emotional well-being is not a weakness, but a vital part of healthy, sustainable ministry.

The article also features data from a nationwide survey of over 6,864 ministers and sheds light on common stressors, barriers to seeking help, and the significant role of faith and purpose in fostering resilience.

“We often ask pastors to carry the spiritual weight of their congregations,” said Dr. Harris. “But too many are carrying it alone. This conversation is long overdue, and I’m honored to be part of it.”

Dr. Harris’ voice in this piece reflects the heart of LABI College’s mission: to equip future leaders spiritually, academically, and holistically.
